The Originals present SNAKE IN THE GRASS, a thriller by Alan Ayckbourne

July 18th, 19th, 24th, 25th, 26th – 7:30 PM
Sunday Matinee, July 20th – 2:30 PM

In the midlands of England, flighty and naïve Miriam has cared for her father at the family estate during his vituperative last years.  On the occasion of the malevolent old man’s death, her sophisticated and seemingly self-assured sister Annabel returns from Tasmania to find that Daddy has left the bulk of his fortune to her.  Soon, his former nurse, the sly and politely menacing Alice, appears and informs Annabel that sweet Miriam may have had a hand in dear Daddy’s fatal descent down an unlit staircase.  Alice claims to have evidence of this, and demands compensation for having been unfairly dismissed.   Old sibling rivalries quickly bubble to the surface as the sisters wait for the blackmailer in a garden filled with long-buried childhood memories.  But as night falls, the electricity fails, and their lanterns run out of fuel, is it just the past that returns to haunt them, or something far more sinister?...With Jennifer Porter, Elisabeth Hardcastle, and Claudia Schneider. Directed by Dana Packard
